This light green hand painted shawl is a sheer summer shoulder wrap, that can be worn as an exquisite silk neck scarf all year.
I hand painted the Copper Gold Tea House Maiko Chrysanthemum Scarf inspired by my memories of seeing Maiko (apprentice geishas) in Kyoto. Maiko's kimonos are brighter and more cheerful than those of the Geisha. Maikos wore the heavy Silk Kimono Sash floor length on their back.
The large Chrysanthemum flowers are hand drawn in copper, gold and hand painted in rich wine red against the very pale yellowish green. This dynamic Florals becomes an abstract design when worn.
